Vulkem 360NF Base Coat - Low VOC, water-cured, rapid setting urethane membrane

Tremco Vulkem® 360NF+ Base Coat

Low-VOC, Water-Cured, Rapid-Setting Urethane Waterproofing Membrane | Brand: Tremco

Tremco Vulkem® 360NF+ is a single-component, moisture-curing, rapid-setting urethane membrane formulated as the base coat in Tremco’s Vulkem traffic deck waterproofing system. Its low-VOC, solvent-free formulation is designed for use in enclosed parkades and occupied structures with appropriate ventilation. Confirm suitability, system compatibility, coverage, and cure requirements against the current Tremco TDS, SDS, and project specification before use.

Product Description

Vulkem 360NF+ cures by reaction with atmospheric moisture to form a seamless, fully-adhered elastomeric membrane. Its NF (No Flash) designation indicates a low-VOC, non-flammable formulation — designed for enclosed parkades and occupied buildings where solvent-based products present ventilation and fire safety challenges; confirm ventilation requirements against the SDS.

The rapid-setting formulation is designed to reduce the time between base coat application and topcoat installation, helping to compress the overall project schedule; confirm cure times against the current TDS as they vary with temperature and humidity. Once cured, Vulkem 360NF is designed to provide a flexible, crack-bridging base that accommodates minor substrate movement and thermal cycling; confirm crack-bridging performance against the TDS and project specification.

Key Characteristics

• Low-VOC, non-flammable (NF)
Formulated for enclosed parkades and occupied structures with appropriate ventilation; confirm ventilation requirements against the SDS.
• Rapid-Setting
Designed for faster cure than conventional urethane membranes; confirm cure times against the TDS as they vary with temperature and humidity.
• Single-component, moisture-curing
No mixing required; apply directly from the pail.
• Seamless, fully-adhered membrane
Designed to eliminate laps and seams; final performance depends on substrate condition, preparation, and application method.
• Crack-bridging elastomeric properties
Designed to accommodate minor substrate movement and thermal cycling; confirm crack-bridging performance against the TDS and project specification.
• Tremco system compatible
Designed for use with Vulkem 191 Primer and Vulkem 951NF topcoat as part of a complete traffic deck assembly; confirm system compatibility against the current Tremco specification.

Typical Applications

• Base coat membrane in Vulkem vehicular traffic deck waterproofing systems
• Base coat membrane in Vulkem pedestrian traffic deck waterproofing systems
• Parkade and parking structure deck waterproofing
• Podium deck and plaza deck waterproofing base coat
• Ramp and drive aisle waterproofing base coat

Performance Highlights

Surface Preparation

Concrete must be structurally sound, clean, and free of laitance, oil, grease, curing compounds, and form release agents. Mechanically profile the surface to the CSP specified in the TDS. Fill surface voids, honeycombs, and bug holes with a compatible patching mortar. Apply Vulkem 191 QD Primer (or approved Tremco primer) at the specified coverage rate and allow to dry before applying Vulkem 360NF. Refer to the current Tremco system specification for full substrate preparation requirements.

Application Instructions

1. Substrate preparation: Prepare the concrete as described above. Apply approved primer and allow it to dry to the tack-free state specified in the TDS.
2. Detail work: Apply membrane to all coves, inside and outside corners, pipe penetrations, and construction joints before field application. Embed reinforcing fabric at all details as specified.
3. Field application: Apply Vulkem 360NF by squeegee and back-roll at the wet film thickness specified in the TDS. Ensure uniform coverage with no holidays or thin spots.
4. Cure: Allow to cure to the state specified in the TDS before applying the topcoat. Cure time is temperature and humidity dependent.
5. Topcoat: Apply Vulkem 951NF (or approved topcoat) within the recoat window specified in the TDS.

Limitations

• Must be used as part of an approved Tremco Vulkem traffic deck system, not a standalone waterproofing membrane.
• Do not apply to substrates with active water leaks or running water.
• Do not apply below minimum temperature or when rain or condensation is expected before cure; confirm temperature requirements against the TDS.
• Do not exceed the maximum recoat window without re-priming the surface.
• Pot life and cure time are temperature and humidity-dependent.
