A traffic deck coating is a system, not a paint
A vehicular or pedestrian traffic deck coating is a multi-layer waterproofing assembly, and every layer has a job. A typical build is a primer, a flexible base membrane that does the waterproofing and bridges hairline cracks, an aggregate-broadcast intermediate or wear course that carries the traffic, and a UV-stable topcoat that protects the membrane and provides the finished colour and slip resistance. The base membrane is the part keeping water off the slab — the wear course and topcoat are what keep the membrane alive under tires.
Pedestrian areas (stairwells, walkways, balconies) and vehicular areas (drive lanes, ramps, parking bays) get different build thicknesses and aggregate loading, so spec them separately even within the same parkade.

Do not mix a base membrane from one manufacturer with a topcoat from another unless the manufacturer's documentation explicitly allows it — chemistry incompatibility between coats is a leading cause of premature delamination.
Prep and moisture: the two failure points
Two things sink most parkade recoats. The first is inadequate surface prep — the deck has to be mechanically profiled and sound, with failed prior coating removed rather than coated over. The second is moisture: an existing slab can hold water, and coating over a wet or non-vented deck traps it under the new membrane. Test for moisture, address cracks and joints with the correct sealant or detail, and confirm ambient and substrate conditions before you open a pail.
Coverage rates, cure times, recoat windows, and aggregate loading all depend on temperature, humidity, and film thickness, so build your material takeoff from the current technical data sheets for the exact system you're using, not from a rule of thumb.
