Surface Preparation

Substrate must be clean, structurally sound, and free of oil, grease, dust, curing compounds and loose material. Mechanically prepare the surface as required. Check for moisture — confirm acceptable moisture vapour emission rate against the current TDS before application. Install perimeter edge strips or forms to contain the pour. Confirm all preparation requirements against the current TDS.

Priming

A primer coat may be required depending on substrate porosity and condition. Confirm primer requirements and compatible primer products against the current TDS before application. Allow primer to cure fully before applying SLC.

Mixing

Add the full 25 kg bag to approximately 5.0–5.5 L of clean, potable water (about 20–22% by weight) in a clean mixing vessel. Mix with a low-speed drill and paddle for 2–3 minutes to a smooth, lump-free, pourable consistency. Do not add excess water — over-watering reduces strength and increases shrinkage. Confirm mixing ratio and procedure against the current TDS.

Application

Pour the mixed SLC onto the prepared substrate and spread with a gauge rake or spreader to the required thickness (3–60 mm per pass). The material self-levels under its own flow. Use a spiked roller to release entrapped air and assist levelling. Work continuously within the working time — do not allow cold joints to form, and protect from rapid drying and traffic until set. Confirm application method and thickness against the current TDS.

Curing, Sealing & Overcoating

Protect freshly applied SLC from drafts, direct sunlight and rapid drying during the initial cure. Where SLC is left as a finished topping, seal the cured surface with a compatible sealer or clear topcoat once it has reached an acceptable moisture content, and confirm curing and traffic-readiness against the current TDS. Where a flooring system is to be applied over SLC, confirm the minimum overcoating time and required strength and moisture content against the current TDS before overcoating.

Interior use as tested (JC/T 985-2017). Exterior and freeze-thaw performance are not covered by the current data — confirm with the manufacturer before any exterior application
