ResinTech Traffic Coating System: Complete Guide for Parkades, Decks & Commercial Floors
Jun 18 , 2026
The ResinTech Traffic Coating System is a professionally engineered, multi-layer protective coating system designed for concrete surfaces subject to vehicular and pedestrian traffic, moisture exposure, and chemical attack. It is the system of choice for parkade decks, balconies, mechanical rooms, commercial ramps, and exterior concrete decks across British Columbia.
Available exclusively through Canopus Supply in North Vancouver, the ResinTech Traffic Coating System uses a sequence of purpose-formulated ResinTech products — each engineered to perform a specific role in the system. The result is a seamless, durable, waterproof, and traffic-bearing surface that protects the concrete structure beneath it for years.
System Overview
The ResinTech Traffic Coating System is applied in layers, each building on the last to create a complete waterproofing and traffic-bearing membrane:
- Surface Preparation — Mechanical grinding to CSP 3–4
- Crack & Joint Repair — ResinTech PPM-SL
- Prime Coat — ResinTech CBE (Core Bond Epoxy)
- Base Coat — ResinTech TUE (Transparent Universal Epoxy, 100% Solids)
- Membrane Layer — ResinTech PPM (Protective Polymer Membrane)
- Topcoat — ResinTech HPP (High Performance Polyaspartic) or TCU (Aliphatic Urethane)
Component Products
Step 1 — Crack & Joint Repair: ResinTech PPM-SL
ResinTech PPM-SL is a semi self-leveling crack and joint repair sealant used to fill and bridge cracks, control joints, and surface defects before the coating system is applied. Flexible and durable, it accommodates minor structural movement without cracking.
- Semi self-leveling — flows into cracks for complete fill
- Flexible formulation accommodates dynamic cracks
- Compatible with all ResinTech coating layers
Step 2 — Prime Coat: ResinTech CBE (Core Bond Epoxy)
ResinTech CBE is a penetrating epoxy primer designed to deeply bond to concrete substrates and create a chemically compatible foundation for the coating system above. It seals the concrete surface, consolidates weak laitance, and maximizes adhesion of subsequent layers.
- Deep penetrating epoxy primer
- Consolidates and strengthens the concrete surface
- Maximizes intercoat adhesion for the full system
- 15L / 4 Gal kit
Step 3 — Base Coat: ResinTech TUE (Transparent Universal Epoxy, 100% Solids)
ResinTech TUE is a 100% solids, zero-VOC clear epoxy base coat that forms the structural foundation of the traffic coating system. At 100% solids, there is zero shrinkage — every mil applied stays in the film. It delivers exceptional chemical resistance, compressive strength, and adhesion.
- 100% solids — zero VOC, zero shrinkage
- Exceptional adhesion to CBE prime coat
- High compressive and tensile strength
- UV-resistant formulation (clear, non-yellowing base)
- 15L / 4 Gal kit
Step 4 — Membrane Layer: ResinTech PPM (Protective Polymer Membrane)
ResinTech PPM is a flexible protective polymer membrane applied over the epoxy base coat to provide crack-bridging capability, waterproofing, and impact resistance. It is the key waterproofing layer in the system, designed to remain flexible under traffic loads and temperature cycling.
- Crack-bridging waterproofing membrane
- Remains flexible under traffic and thermal movement
- Seamless application — no joints or seams to fail
- 10L kit
Step 5 — Topcoat: ResinTech HPP or TCU
The topcoat is the wear surface of the system — it must be UV-stable, abrasion-resistant, and chemically resistant to de-icing salts, oils, and cleaning agents.
ResinTech HPP — High Performance Polyaspartic is the preferred topcoat for fast-turnaround projects. It returns to foot traffic in 2–6 hours and reaches full cure in 24 hours. UV-stable and non-yellowing.
ResinTech TCU — Aliphatic Urethane Topcoat is the preferred topcoat for maximum long-term colour retention and gloss stability. Aliphatic chemistry resists UV degradation, yellowing, and chalking for years in sun-exposed environments.
Optional: ResinTech FLEXCOAT-PU (Waterproofing Membrane)
ResinTech FLEXCOAT-PU is a single-component polyurethane waterproofing membrane that can be incorporated into the system for applications requiring enhanced waterproofing performance, particularly on balconies and exterior decks with high moisture exposure.
System Application Sequence
| Layer | Product | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Surface Prep | Diamond grinding to CSP 3–4 | Profile and clean concrete |
| Crack Repair | ResinTech PPM-SL | Fill cracks and joints |
| Prime Coat | ResinTech CBE | Penetrating epoxy primer |
| Base Coat | ResinTech TUE | 100% solids epoxy base |
| Membrane | ResinTech PPM | Waterproofing & crack bridging |
| Topcoat | ResinTech HPP or TCU | UV-stable wear surface |
Ideal Applications
- Parkade decks and ramps (vehicular traffic)
- Balconies and exterior terraces (pedestrian traffic + moisture)
- Mechanical and utility rooms
- Commercial loading docks
- Exterior concrete stairs and walkways
- Any concrete surface requiring waterproofing + traffic resistance
Surface Preparation Requirements
The ResinTech Traffic Coating System requires mechanical surface preparation to a minimum CSP 3–4. Diamond grinding is the preferred method. All cracks must be repaired with PPM-SL and cured before the prime coat is applied. Moisture vapor emission must be within product TDS limits.
Canopus Supply stocks diamond cup wheels, Redi-Lock grinding pads, and surface preparation equipment. See our Concrete Floor Preparation Guide for full instructions.
