Dymonic® 100 High-Performance, High-Movement Single-Component, Polyurethane Sealant
Tremco Dymonic® 100
High-Performance, High-Movement Single-Component Polyurethane Sealant | Brand: Tremco
Tremco Dymonic 100 is a premium, single-component, moisture-curing polyurethane sealant engineered for high-movement joints in commercial and institutional construction. It delivers outstanding adhesion to a wide range of substrates — concrete, masonry, metal, glass, and coated surfaces — without the need for a primer in many applications. Designed for specifiers, glazing contractors, and building envelope professionals who require a reliable, durable sealant for demanding joint conditions.
Product Description
Dymonic 100 cures by reaction with atmospheric moisture to form a tough, flexible, permanently elastic seal. Its single-component formulation eliminates on-site mixing, reducing application error and speeding installation. The cured sealant resists UV exposure, weathering, and temperature cycling, making it suitable for exposed exterior joints on building facades, curtain walls, precast panels, and window perimeters.
With a ±50% movement capability, Dymonic 100 accommodates the thermal expansion, structural movement, and substrate deflection typical of modern commercial construction. It is paintable after cure and available in a range of colors to match architectural finishes.
Key Benefits
- ±50% joint movement capability — handles high thermal and structural movement in commercial building joints.
- Single-component, moisture-curing — no mixing required; ready to gun directly from the cartridge or sausage pack.
- Excellent adhesion — bonds to concrete, masonry, metal, glass, aluminum, and many coated surfaces, often without primer.
- UV and weather resistant — maintains flexibility and adhesion on exposed exterior joints through temperature cycling and UV exposure.
- Paintable after cure — accepts latex and oil-based paints for color-matched architectural finishes.
- Non-sag formula — suitable for vertical and overhead joint applications without slumping.
- Wide color range — available in multiple standard colors to match common architectural substrates.
Typical Applications
- Expansion and control joints in concrete and masonry facades
- Curtain wall and storefront perimeter sealing
- Precast concrete panel joints
- Window and door perimeter sealing
- Metal panel and composite cladding joints
- Parking structure and podium deck perimeter joints
- General building envelope joint sealing

Surface Preparation & Application
Substrates must be clean, dry, sound, and free of dust, oil, grease, laitance, and incompatible coatings. Install backer rod to the correct depth to achieve the specified joint width-to-depth ratio (typically 2:1). Apply sealant by gun, tool immediately to ensure full contact with joint faces, and finish smooth. Remove masking tape before the sealant skins. Refer to the current Tremco Product Data Sheet for primer requirements by substrate, application temperature range, and cure times.
Limitations
- Not for use in joints subject to continuous water immersion unless specifically approved.
- Do not apply to wet, frozen, or contaminated substrates.
- Do not apply below 4°C or above 40°C ambient temperature.
- Not recommended for structural glazing or load-bearing applications.
- Do not paint until fully cured — premature painting may cause adhesion failure.
- Confirm primer requirements for porous, coated, or non-standard substrates before application.
Storage & Shelf Life
Store in original, unopened cartridges or sausage packs in a cool, dry area at 4–27°C, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Typical shelf life is 12 months from date of manufacture when stored correctly. Do not freeze.
Health & Safety
Read the current Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use. Contains isocyanate prepolymers; uncured material may cause skin and respiratory sensitization. Wear gloves, eye protection, and ensure adequate ventilation. Refer to the SDS for full hazard classification and first-aid measures.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Dymonic 100 require a primer?
In many applications, Dymonic 100 bonds directly without primer. However, primer is recommended on certain porous, coated, or non-standard substrates. Always confirm primer requirements with the current Tremco Product Data Sheet or contact Canopus Supply for guidance.
What joint movement can Dymonic 100 accommodate?
Dymonic 100 is rated for ±50% joint movement, making it suitable for high-movement expansion joints, curtain wall perimeters, and precast panel joints subject to significant thermal and structural cycling.
Can it be used on exterior exposed joints?
Yes. Dymonic 100 is UV and weather resistant and is designed for exposed exterior building envelope joints including facades, window perimeters, and metal panel systems.
Is it paintable?
Yes, Dymonic 100 is paintable with latex or oil-based paints after the sealant has fully cured. Do not paint over uncured sealant.
