Sikafloor®-2540 W NA | Breathable Water-Based Epoxy Floor Coating

Sikafloor®-2540 W NA | Breathable Water-Based Epoxy Floor Coating

Two-component, water-based, low-VOC pigmented epoxy coating — 18.9 L (5 US gal) kit | Brand: Sika | Model: Sikafloor®-2540 W NA

Sikafloor®-2540 W NA is a two-component, breathable, water-based, low-VOC, low-odour, glossy pigmented epoxy coating. Sika describes it as curing to a tough, finely textured finish that resists light to medium traffic, chemical exposure and repeated cleaning. It is used as a thin-film, vapour-permeable coating on new and refurbished interior concrete. Browse the full Sika product range and other epoxy floor coatings at Canopus Supply.

Performance Highlights

Key Characteristics

• Breathable — permeable to water vapour (~3.9 Perm at 10 mil d.f.t., ASTM E96 Procedure B).
• Water-based, low VOC and low odour — ~24 g/L VOC; Sika notes it suits interior use without disrupting operations.
• Chemical and wear resistance — resists mildly corrosive chemicals, wear and wash-down scrubbing.
• Traffic — light to medium traffic, including pedestrians and light handling equipment on pneumatic tires.
• Finish — glossy, finely textured finish with excellent opacity; unlimited colour range, special colours on request.
• Food plants — meets the requirements of CFIA for use in food plants.
• Test values — abrasion ~0.118 g loss (ASTM D4060, CS17 wheel / 1000 g / 1000 cycles); pull-off strength > 2.0 MPa (> 290 psi), concrete failure (ASTM D7234).

Typical Applications

• Thin-film, vapour-permeable pigmented coating on new and refurbished interior concrete
• Chemical, pharmaceutical, food processing and food preparation facilities
• Warehouses and workshops
• Areas with mildly corrosive chemical contact and wash-down scrubbing
• Top coat in the Sikafloor® Multiflex PS 52 MRW (CA) and PS 53 MRW (CA) mechanical room waterproofing systems

Application Conditions

• Product temperature 18–24 °C (65–75 °F) before and during application.
• Ambient air and substrate temperature 10–30 °C (50–86 °F); substrate at least 3 °C (5 °F) above the dew point.
• Maximum 75 % relative humidity during application and curing.
• Two coats recommended. Mix mechanically with a paddle at 300–450 rpm for at least 3 minutes.
• Protect from dampness, condensation and water for at least 72 hours.
• Confirm substrate moisture limits, concrete strength and surface profile (minimum ICRI CSP 2) against the current Sika TDS before application.

Limitations

• Interior use only — not for exterior surfaces.
• Do not dilute with water or solvent.
• Do not apply over cracked or unsound substrates, or while ambient or substrate temperature is rising (pinholes may form).
• Not for negative-side waterproofing; not recommended for highly corrosive chemicals or heavy wear.
• Do not apply over concrete with ASR-susceptible aggregates or where ASR is present or suspected.
• Colour may vary between batches and may discolour under UV light and some artificial lighting.

Health & Safety

Read the current Sika Safety Data Sheets for Part A and the Part B base being supplied before handling, and use the personal protective equipment they specify. Direct-fired gas or kerosene heaters must be vented outside. Safety data sheets for each Part B base are listed on the Sika Canada product page.
