Tremco TREMproof® 250GC

Single-Component, Rapid-Curing, Fluid-Applied Elastomeric Waterproofing Membrane | Brand: Tremco

Tremco TREMproof® 250GC is a single-component, moisture-curing, fluid-applied polyurethane waterproofing membrane engineered for below-grade, plaza deck, and split-slab waterproofing applications. Its rapid-cure formulation delivers fast return-to-service, allowing subsequent construction activities to proceed sooner and reducing overall project schedule. Designed for waterproofing contractors and specifiers who require a reliable, high-performance membrane for demanding below-grade and above-grade waterproofing conditions.

Professional system note: TREMproof 250GC must be applied as part of an approved Tremco waterproofing system including compatible primer, protection board, and drainage components. Substrate preparation and primer application are critical to membrane adhesion and long-term performance. Confirm the full system specification before use.

Product Description

TREMproof 250GC cures by reaction with atmospheric moisture to form a seamless, fully-adhered elastomeric membrane. Its single-component formulation eliminates on-site mixing, reducing application error and simplifying quality control. The GC designation indicates a formulation optimized for green concrete applications, allowing the membrane to be applied to concrete that has achieved sufficient strength but may still contain residual construction moisture — a significant advantage on fast-track projects.

Once cured, TREMproof 250GC forms a tough, flexible, seamless waterproofing layer that bridges minor cracks and accommodates substrate movement. It is compatible with Tremco’s full range of below-grade protection boards, drainage composites, and accessory products required to complete a warranted waterproofing assembly.

Key Benefits

  • Rapid cure — fast return-to-service allows protection board and backfill to proceed sooner, reducing project schedule.
  • Single-component — no mixing required; ready to apply directly from the pail, reducing application error.
  • Green concrete compatible (GC) — can be applied to concrete with residual construction moisture, enabling faster installation on new construction.
  • Seamless, fully-adhered membrane — eliminates laps and seams that can be points of failure in sheet-applied systems.
  • Crack-bridging elastomeric performance — accommodates minor substrate movement and hairline cracking without membrane failure.
  • Broad application range — suitable for below-grade walls, plaza decks, split-slab assemblies, and podium decks.
  • Tremco system compatible — integrates with Tremco protection boards, drainage composites, and accessories for a complete warranted assembly.

Typical Applications

  • Below-grade foundation wall waterproofing
  • Below-grade slab and raft foundation waterproofing
  • Plaza deck and podium deck waterproofing (split-slab assemblies)
  • Tunnel and underground structure waterproofing
  • Planter box and green roof waterproofing assemblies
  • Elevator pit and mechanical room waterproofing

Surface Preparation

Concrete must be structurally sound, clean, and free of laitance, oil, grease, curing compounds, and form release agents. Surface voids, honeycombs, and bug holes must be filled with a compatible patching mortar. Sharp protrusions must be ground smooth. Apply an approved Tremco primer (such as TREMproof Primer or equivalent) at the specified coverage rate and allow to dry before applying the membrane. Refer to the current Tremco system specification for substrate-specific preparation requirements.

Application Instructions

  1. Substrate preparation: Prepare the concrete as described above. Fill voids and grind protrusions. Apply approved primer and allow to dry.
  2. Detail work: Apply membrane to all coves, inside and outside corners, pipe penetrations, and construction joints before field application. Embed reinforcing fabric at all details as specified.
  3. Field application: Apply TREMproof 250GC by spray, roller, or trowel at the specified wet film thickness. Ensure uniform coverage with no holidays or thin spots.
  4. Inspection: Inspect the cured membrane for pinholes, thin areas, and incomplete coverage. Repair deficiencies before installing protection board.
  5. Protection: Install approved Tremco protection board immediately after the membrane has cured sufficiently to prevent damage during subsequent construction activities.

Limitations

  • Must be used as part of an approved Tremco waterproofing system — not a standalone product without compatible accessories.
  • Do not apply to substrates with active water leaks or running water.
  • Do not apply below 5°C or when rain or condensation is expected before cure.
  • Protect the cured membrane from UV exposure and physical damage before protection board installation.
  • Do not apply over incompatible primers or coatings without Tremco approval.

Storage & Shelf Life

Store in original, unopened pails in a cool, dry, ventilated area at 5–30°C, away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture. Do not freeze. Typical shelf life is 12 months from date of manufacture when stored correctly.

Health & Safety

Read the current Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use. Contains isocyanate prepolymers; uncured material may cause skin and respiratory sensitization. Wear gloves, eye protection, and appropriate respiratory protection during spray application. Ensure adequate ventilation. Refer to the SDS for full hazard classification and first-aid measures.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does "GC" mean in TREMproof 250GC?

GC stands for Green Concrete. The formulation is designed to be applied to concrete that has achieved sufficient structural strength but may still contain residual construction moisture — a common condition on new construction projects. This allows the waterproofing to be installed earlier in the construction sequence, reducing schedule delays.

Can TREMproof 250GC be applied by roller?

Yes. TREMproof 250GC can be applied by spray, roller, or trowel depending on the project requirements and area geometry. Spray application is most common for large field areas; roller and trowel are used for detail work and smaller areas.

Does it require a primer?

Yes. An approved Tremco primer must be applied to the prepared concrete substrate before the membrane. Primer selection depends on the substrate condition and system specification. Contact Canopus Supply for primer recommendations for your specific application.

How soon can protection board be installed after application?

Protection board can be installed after the membrane has cured to a tack-free state. Cure time is temperature and humidity dependent. Refer to the current Tremco Product Data Sheet for specific cure times at different conditions.
