Eco-MPE™ Multi-Purpose Epoxy

Versatile, Solvent-Free Two-Component Epoxy System | Brand: Eco

Eco-MPE™ is a versatile, solvent-free, two-component epoxy system for concrete floor coating, priming, and bonding applications. Its multi-purpose formulation is designed for contractors and facility managers who need a single epoxy product that can be used across different substrate conditions and system requirements. Confirm suitability, coverage, cure time, and system compatibility against the current TDS, SDS, and project specification before use.

Professional note: Substrate preparation is critical. Concrete must be mechanically profiled, clean, dry, and free of laitance, oil, and curing compounds. Moisture testing is essential before application. Confirm suitability for your specific application and substrate against the current TDS before use.

Product Description

Eco-MPE™ is a 100% solids, two-component epoxy that cures to a hard, durable film. Its formulation allows it to be used as a penetrating primer on porous or lightly profiled concrete, a mid-build coating in multi-layer floor systems, or a bonding agent for overlays and toppings; confirm the appropriate application rate and method against the current TDS for each use case. The solvent-free chemistry minimizes VOC emissions; confirm ventilation requirements against the SDS.

Once cured, Eco-MPE™ provides a smooth, cleanable surface with resistance to oils, mild chemicals, and cleaning agents; confirm chemical compatibility against the TDS and project specification. It is designed for use with decorative flake and quartz broadcast systems and can be topcoated with polyurethane or polyaspartic finishes; confirm system compatibility against the TDS before ordering.

Key Characteristics

  • Multi-purpose formulation — designed for use as a primer, mid-build coat, or bonding agent; confirm the appropriate application rate and method against the TDS for each use case.
  • 100% solids, solvent-free — low VOC; confirm ventilation requirements against the SDS.
  • Adhesion to concrete — designed for adhesion to mechanically prepared concrete substrates; final adhesion depends on substrate condition, surface profile, moisture content, and application method.
  • Chemical resistance properties — formulated with resistance to common industrial chemicals, oils, and cleaning agents after cure; confirm chemical compatibility against the TDS and project specification.
  • Seamless, cleanable finish — creates a continuous floor surface; final appearance depends on substrate condition and application method.
  • System compatible — designed for use with decorative flake, quartz broadcast, and polyurethane or polyaspartic topcoat systems; confirm system compatibility against the TDS before ordering.
  • Application methods — roller, squeegee, or brush; confirm the appropriate method and coverage rate against the TDS for each use case.

Typical Applications

  • Penetrating epoxy primer on porous or lightly profiled concrete
  • Mid-build floor coating in multi-layer epoxy systems
  • Bonding agent for cementitious overlays and toppings
  • Commercial and light industrial concrete floor coatings
  • Base coat for decorative flake or quartz broadcast systems
  • Garage, warehouse, and institutional floor coatings

Surface Preparation

Concrete must be mechanically profiled (shot-blasted or ground to the CSP specified in the TDS), clean, dry, and free of laitance, oil, grease, curing compounds, and incompatible coatings. Conduct moisture testing before application. Repair cracks and voids with a compatible repair mortar prior to coating.

Application Instructions

  1. Substrate preparation: Profile and clean the concrete as described above. Confirm moisture levels are within acceptable limits per the TDS.
  2. Mixing: Combine Part A and Part B at the ratio specified in the TDS. Mix thoroughly with a low-speed mixer for the full recommended time. Do not thin.
  3. Primer application (if used as primer): Apply at a thin, penetrating rate by roller or brush per the TDS. Allow to tack before applying subsequent coats.
  4. Coating application: Pour mixed material onto the floor and spread evenly with a notched squeegee. Back-roll immediately with a phenolic-core roller for uniform film build.
  5. Broadcast (if applicable): For flake or quartz systems, broadcast aggregate into the wet coating to refusal. Remove excess after cure.
  6. Topcoat (if applicable): Apply an approved polyurethane or polyaspartic topcoat within the recoat window specified in the TDS.

Limitations

  • Not UV stable — requires a UV-stable topcoat for exposed or sunlit areas.
  • Do not apply to damp, contaminated, or unsound concrete.
  • Do not apply below minimum temperature or when substrate temperature is within 3°C of the dew point; confirm temperature requirements against the TDS.
  • Pot life is temperature-dependent — work in manageable batches in warm conditions; confirm pot life against the TDS.
  • Not recommended for areas subject to continuous water immersion without system approval.

Storage & Shelf Life

Store in original, unopened containers in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight and freezing. Confirm shelf life and storage temperature requirements against the current TDS and product label.

Health & Safety

Read the current Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use. Contains epoxy resins and amine hardeners — wear gloves, eye protection, and ensure adequate ventilation during mixing and application. Refer to the SDS for full hazard classification and first-aid measures.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Eco-MPE™ be used as both a primer and a floor coating?

Its multi-purpose formulation is designed to be applied at a thin, penetrating rate as a primer on porous concrete, or at a higher build rate as a mid-coat or standalone floor coating. Confirm the appropriate application rate and method against the current TDS for each use case.

Is it UV stable?

No. Like most epoxy systems, Eco-MPE™ will amber and chalk under UV exposure. For exterior or sunlit areas, apply an approved UV-stable polyurethane or polyaspartic topcoat over the cured epoxy.

What decorative systems is it compatible with?

Eco-MPE™ is designed for use with vinyl flake and quartz broadcast decorative systems. Confirm system compatibility against the current TDS before ordering.

What is the pot life after mixing?

Pot life is temperature-dependent. Work in manageable batch sizes, especially in warm conditions. Refer to the current TDS for specific pot life and working time at different temperatures.
